Prunus myrtifolia

Prunus myrtifolia, 'West Indian Cherry', is a handsome tree and a great choice if you are looking for something that grows quickly and has wildlife benefits. The racemes of white flowers are great for the bees, while the juicy fruits are excellent for the birds and squirrels (but not so much the humans). Crush and sniff the leaves and they smell like cherry cough syrup. Although it’s not a huge tree, it’s not one for a small space, as 'West Indian Cherry' trees can grow to 30’ tall, sometimes even taller.  This species tolerates a wide range of soil conditions and will grow best in full or partial sun. A Native Plant Network Species! (Pot size: 1 gallon)
