'Bentham's Fan Palm' is a solitary palm with a crown of 20 to 30 palmate leaves. It can reach a height of up to 30 feet. The trunk is often covered with retained, un-split leaf bases. Petioles are 3 to 4 feet long and heavily armed with large marginal teeth. What makes this an attractive specimen are the weeping fan leaves. Livistona benthamii is native to the swampy forests of northern Australia and throughout several areas of New Guinea. Prefers rich, moist, well-draining soil and shade to partial sun.
